Congress disappoints…

again.

As the legislative year for Congress draws rapidly to a close we take a peek at another ‘do-nothing’ Congress. Though the new leadership during last year’s election season promised to achieve a bold agenda during the first 100 days of the new Congress little to no progress on that agenda has been achieved in almost a year of inactivity. Though the Democrats have a strong hold on both Houses of Congress they have been unable or unwilling to move their stated agenda forward. It is business as usual in DC.

11 out of 12 appropriations bills are languishing setting a record for fiscal incompetence. The earmarks still get through while the Alternate Minimum Tax will haunt over 20 million Americans this tax season thanks to the Democratic leadership dragging their feet on a solution while the pace of renaming post offices, office buildings, bridges and highways continues unabated. Style points in debates are more important than statesmanship and getting the work of the people done.

It is time to replace these career politicians with regular folks.

Season’s Greetings

Merry Christmas to all my readers.  I appreciate all of you taking the time to read my blog and leave comments.

During this Christmas season we have so much to be grateful for: the surge in Iraq has worked and is continueing to work, the President has so far been able to resist the Democratic Congress’ attempts to subvert our efforts to win the fight against terrorists and insurgents there and to establish a democratic government able to withstand internal and external enemies, our economy remains amazingly robust in spite of the mortgage industry’s difficulties and real income continues to grow, more high profile terrorists attacks in the United States have been thwarted and we have been blessed to have had no attacks since the decimation of 9/11 due to the diligence of our intelligence agencies working in partnership with law enforcement, more and more conservative leaders like Sarkozy in France who are supportive of the United States continue to be elected in country after country…the list goes on and on.

I encourage you to count your blessings and in the Spirit of the Season find those who are not as blessed and help one person or one family through a difficult time and continue to be there for them throughout the New Year.

May God bless all of you.
