Today, I attended the healthy leadership course at our church, LSCC, and Donna attended the Political Chips Door to Door canvassing training in Overland Park with 11 of our volunteers.

My training focused on training healthy leaders based on how Jesus conducted himself and trained the apostles to lead. Taught by our lead pastor, Doug Brown, it was inspirational, encouraging and full of lots of how-to’s.

Donna and our volunteers got a good focused class on a tactical way to identify our voters in unexpected places. We are looking forward to implementing the strategy they learned today and hope you will join the effort. Many hands make light work.

With the CleaverCare bill being negotiated behind closed doors we the people can only lose. Cleaver and the leaders of Congress have taken the extraordinary step of bypassing the regular conference between the House and Senate to hammer out differences while allowing Republicans to propose change in favor of backroom meetings where only Democrats argue with other Democrats.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the final bill does not have a public option. Cleaver and many other Congressmen in the Progressive Caucus have taken the pledge to not vote for any health care reform bill that does not include the public option AND they were taped doing it.

Cleaver Takes The Public Option Pledge

In another illustration of the short sighted decision to bring the mastermind of  9/11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and four other suspects, (note not referrred to as terrorists because they now have all the rights of the men and women fighting and dying overseas to protect us), to the city they terrorized, New York City, we found out it may cost up to $216 million a year to provide increased security for the citizens of New York while a civil trial which should have been a military tribunal set up by Congress for such a purpose takes place. Instead of a low profile, low risk tribunal hearing in Guantanamo Bay which is already secure we will be paying for a media circus in the media circus capital of the world providing the terrorist a huge mouthpiece AND a target.

You can’t make this stuff up. With so many Americans out of work, this administration and the leadership of Congress including Cleaver either don’t realize or don’t care about wasting $100’s of millions protecting a trial that did not need to take place. Money that could have been returned to the taxpayers to jump start our economy.

As important as jobs are, the danger of bringing terrorists to our largest city overshadows everything. They are playing politics with our very lives.

And getting colder. It is easy to take shots at the global warming extremists who were using false science to promote their world governance agenda of controlling human activity. The serious side is bad information combined with zealots who believe humanity is a problem combined with a compliant media leads to horrible public policy decisions where we all will suffer. You see it on Cap and Trade.

You also see it on the current attempt at government takeover of healthcare in the guise of saving us from an evil – in this case insurance companies. Through it all runs the attempt to stampede the American people into running to the big government globalists for salvation. I am proud of the way the average citizen in this country has been able to cut through the bad info on the airwaves and in the newspapers to resist the march of socialism and cling to the true belief that individual freedom leads to a country of excellence.

Keep the faith. Continue to fight even when tired or discouraged. We will win.

Unfortunately, the supposed ‘tough’ new financial regulations Cleaver and his cohorts in Congress are touting as the solution to avoid future financial meltdowns like this last one which has put millions of Americans out of work on his watch are but a watered down broth. Cleaver and others on the Financial Services committee allowed their friends in the financial industry to continue to escape real regulation. A gigantic loophole written in at the behest of the financial industry will let a major portion of the same derivatives Cleaver refused to regulate in the past continue to be outside sound reserve requirements. In the regs, Cleaver also promised his banking friends that he would again grant them hundreds of billions of dollars of our kid’s money if things got too rough for them. It is Congressional funny business as usual – talk tough to us about reform while letting the special interests who support the re-election of incumbents off the hook at our families’ expense. It is time for them all to go.

We have to decide in this country whether to acknowledge that those with an allegiance to the same ideology that fueled the 9/11 murderers are still out to kill as many of our brothers and sisters and moms and dads as they can or allow our Congress to continue to make it just another crime giving the underwear Christmas Day bomber Miranda rights and a lawyer. Now we are less safe because this administration refuses to use legal, enhanced interrogati0n techniques.

This will be an impeachable offense when the next terror attack kills hundreds or thousands of Americans because we the people know we are in danger and our government is playing footsies with our safety. Any member of Congress who does not come out as Senator Bond did on Sunday calling out the administration for not using enhanced interrogation techniques to find the co-conspirators and then reducing attempted mass murder to just another crime will deserved to be impeached when innocents pay for their negligence.

As I have watched the snow fall here in KC, I have thought how analogous it is as I have to shovel and re shovel and re re shovel my driveway to our task in this next year to keep treading water fighting our radical Representative, Cleaver, and his cohorts in Congress to minimize the damage they are doing to our country until November 2nd. As with the current battle to save our private health care system so we can improve it instead of it being destroyed so Congress can direct our doctors, there will be blizzard after blizzard for us to keep shoveling and we cannot stop even when tired or we will be snowed under for a generation or more to come. The economic policies Cleaver and friends are pushing will continue to destroy jobs even as they tell how many are ’saved’. It is all a game in the name of power and control. We must continue to push for less government intervention so the people of America can bring the economy back and create the jobs our families and neighbors need. It is our time.

In this New Year those of us worried about the direction of Congress must sacrifice and do things different politically to change Congress. Donna and I pray you join our campaign of the people this year by writing a check, taking the time to spread the word to all you know and to pray. A political party is not going to come in and rescue us – it is in our hands to do the work to change history and win our country to liberty, entrepreneurship and individual excellence. People will win this race. You will win this race.
