Fixing United States Immigration Policy

OBJECTIVE ONE:
The porous southern border MUST be closed, our northern border security beefed up, and our ports secured. For our southern border, we propose the use of the National Guard to back up the Border Patrol, increase the Border Patrol immediately by the number of officers needed to ensure the integrity of our borders filling in with the National Guard until the officers are hired and trained, and complete in the next few months the 700 miles of double layer fence mandated by Congress in 2006.

Hospitals are overwhelmed, school resources are used up, our law enforcement resources are drained, and our prisons are overflowing in large part due to the waves of illegal aliens invading this country. Americans are paying BILLIONS of dollars, hand over fist, to subsidize the cost of 'cheap' labor, and allowing it to continue is a loss for our economy. There is a real cost to everything and it is time the burden for paying the real cost of services not fall onto the backs of the middle-class taxpayer and working poor.

Have no doubt; there is no need to move forward until the flow of illegal immigrants is stopped. Until Objective One is complete, there can be no Objective Two on immigration reform. Our Federal government needs to win back trust and credibility by proving it can accomplish one clear objective on this issue - border security. Again, when the fence is built and the border secured, we can move forward on retooling our immigration system.

Folks see the drain on our economy, the loss of jobs for Americans in so many sectors, the increase in violent crime, and the spread of diseases like TB, hepatitis, dengue fever, chagas, and even leprosy that unfettered illegal immigration has caused and are rightfully angry. It is unfair to the many people who work legally that others come to America illegally. The American people are tired of politicians of both parties who don't get it. And while it may be politically incorrect, there can be no justice for illegals until there is justice for American citizens.
